POMONA, Calif. – Trailing for a majority of the night, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team completed a fourth quarter comeback on Thursday night, defeating Cal State East Bay 50-44 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) match-up at Kellogg Arena.
The Broncos (5-5, 3-1 CCAA) improved from shooting only 22 percent from the field in the first half, to shooting 48 percent during the second half.
Chelsea Waddy-Blow was the deciding factor on the night, tallying a game high 18 points, going 6-of-9 from the field. Following her was
Jordyn Shane with nine points while
Marshanique Hall grabbed a game high 10 rebounds to go along with six points.
The Pioneers led by as many as 11 points in the game before Pomona began to cut into the lead, heading to the locker room down 26-18 at half.
The Broncos opened the fourth quarter of play on a 10-1 run, taking their first lead since the opening minutes of play after a three by Hall made it 35-33. CPP held on for the win, outscoring the Pioneers 20-11 in the quarter.
For East Bay, Shomari Harris led her team with 15 points and six rebounds while Elayshia Wooldridge collected eight points.
The Broncos return to action Saturday night as they play host to Cal State San Bernardino with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Kellogg Arena.
