POMONA, Calif. – With the holiday break behind them, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team will look to bounce back in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play this week as they travel to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday and Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday.
Last Week: The Broncos (6-6, 4-2 CCAA) had a strong start on the road against Sonoma State but were unable to hang on to the lead late in the game, falling to the Seawolves 74-62 on the campus of Santa Rosa Junior College.
Quick Hits: Ranked second in the CCAA in points allowed, the Broncos continue to be one of the better defensive teams in the league, allowing 57.2 points per game. CPP is also holding their opponents to the third worst shooting percentage in the league at .367.
Priscilla Brooks leads the team with 93 rebounds this season, bringing her career total at CPP to 349 rebounds since the 2015-16 season. Her average of 7.8 rebounds per game is the second highest average in the conference.
Chelsea Waddy-Blow leads the Broncos in points scored, averaging 11.6 points per game followed by Brooks and
Marshanique Hall who both average 7.8 points.
About Cal State Dominguez Hills:
-Entering the weekend in the bottom half of the pack, the Toros hold a CCAA record of 1-3, going 4-7 overall
-CSUDH holds the third highest scoring average at 68.5 points per game but are also giving up a league worst 73 points per game
-Imari Brown leads the Toros with an average of 15.1 ppg followed by Kayla Gillett with 14.4 ppg which ranks third and sixth in the conference respectively in scoring
-Coming off a 67-64 win over Cal State San Marcos, CSUDH has yet to win a home game, sitting at 0-3 in the Torodome.
About Cal State Los Angeles:
-In a tie for third place in the CCAA standings with CPP and two other teams, Cal State LA holds a 4-2 record in the CCAA, going 7-7 overall
-With one of the better offenses in the league, the Golden Eagles average 64.7 points per game, the fifth highest total, while giving up 69.2 points on average
-Heading into Thursday's matchup with San Francisco State, CSULA has lost two straight games
-Rikke Fabricius leads the Cal State LA with 14.7 ppg which also ranks fourth in the CCAA
