CHICO– The Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 result against California Collegiate Athletic Association opponent Chico State on the road on Friday.
With the loss, the Broncos move to 9-4-1 overall on the year, while going 5-3-1 in the CCAA.
The Broncos struck first on the night as
Daisy Duran set a long cross to
Amanda Duran who ran best one defender before beating the goalie one-on-one for the early score in the 15
th minute.
Chico State outshot CPP 15-9 while the Broncos registered more shots on goal with six compared to five from the Wildcats.
The Wildcats tied the match 10 minutes later after an errant clearance left the ball in the box, giving Chico the chance to punch the ball into the net. In the 35
th minute, Chico took the lead with a header, heading into the half with a 2-1 advantage.
A. Duran and
Tasha Inong led the Broncos with two shots each, both landing on target while D. Duran also finished with two shots.
Chico State scored their final goal after a free kick bounced around in the box before deflecting off a CPP defender and landing in the net.
The Broncos return to the field on Sunday as they take on Stanislaus State.
