Men's Basketball Signs Amador Valley Standout Demetrius Williams

POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team announced today the signing of Amador Valley High School forward Demetrius Williams, as the first member of the 2018-19 recruiting class.

Williams, a 6-6 forward, is finishing his senior season after already amassing an impressive high school career. After averaging a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds during the 2016-17 season, Williams was selected to the East Bay Athletic All-League team.

"We are extremely excited to have Demetrius join our program next year. Not only is he an outstanding basketball player, but he is a tremendous person," said Head Coach Greg Kamansky. "He is an extremely bright student who is very competitive on the court and in the classroom."

While playing for the Amador Dons, Williams has earned numerous tournament awards including the 2016 Whitney Tournament MVP, Windsor All-Tournament Team, two-time ABC All-Tournament selection as well as being named the Player of the Week during the 2015-16 campaign.

"I am excited with the opportunity to coach him the next four years and we are anticipating him developing into a key player for our program. Demetrius will represent our program in the highest of standards that we expect of all our student-athletes."

Williams has had as much success in the classroom as he has on the court, earning honor roll status all four years. He enters Cal Poly Pomona intending to major in Physics.
