POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team have gone from looking ahead to next year to fighting for a playoff spot, winning six straight games heading into Saturday's matchup at Humboldt State.
The Broncos (9-10, 7-8 CCAA) currently sit in ninth place in the conference standings but with Cal State San Marcos being ineligible for postseason play, CPP holds the final playoff spot.
Last Week: In two games that came down to the wire, CPP recorded their fifth and sixth straight wins against Cal State Dominguez Hills 48-47, and Cal State Los Angeles 67-64. Sophomore
Jordan Ogundiran scored 28 points combined on the weekend.
Quick Hits: The Broncos have moved up the conference rankings on defense, holding the sixth ranked defense, allowing 66.3 points per game. The Broncos are also holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of .424, the fifth lowest in the CCAA.
CPP is averaging 65.4 points per game and have excelled in taking care of the ball so far this season, giving up the second fewest turnovers (234). The Broncos hold the best turnover ratio in the CCAA at plus-4.0.
Ogundiran ranks 16
th in the conference in scoring with 12.7 points per game while
Jeremy Dennis averages 11.7 ppg and
William Christmas adds 9.4 ppg.
About Humboldt State:
