POMONA, Calif. – Heading into the final weekend of play in the California Collegiate Athletic Association regular season, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team look to lock in a home playoff game as they welcome in San Francisco State on Thursday and Sonoma State on Saturday.
With Homecoming on Saturday, the Broncos will also honor two seniors in
Erin Hagan and
Marshanique Hall on senior night.
Last Week: After dropping game one to first-place UC San Diego in game one of the week, the Broncos earned a 76-64 victory over Cal State San Bernardino to break a tie and move up in the CCAA standings.
Quick Hits: The Broncos currently hold the final home playoff spot, sitting at fourth in the CCAA conference standings. CPP has worked one of the best defenses in the conference, allowing only 58.5 points per game and hold the third best scoring margin with plus-four.
The Broncos moved to 10th in the latest NCAA Divsion II West Regional Rankings that were released Wednesday afternoon.
Chelsea Waddy-Blow and
Priscilla Brooks have combined for nine double-doubles so far this season. Waddy-Blow ranks 13
th in the CCAA in scoring average (12.4) and 10
th in rebounding (6.6) while Brooks is fourth in rebounds per game at 8.2.
Jackie Ricketson ranks sixth in the league in assists at 3.5 assists per game, earning the seventh highest total at 84 assists.
About San Francisco State:
-The Gators are sitting at the bottom of the CCAA standings at 4-21 overall and 2-16 in conference
-SFSU was won their last two games, defeating CSULA and CSUDH
-San Francisco ranks seventh in defense (63.3) and last in offense (54.6)
-CPP recorded a 59-43 win over the Gators early on this the season
-Kaitlin DaDalt leads SFSU with 11.8 points per game
About Sonoma State:
-Sonoma State is 12-12 overall on the season and 8-10 entering the final weekend
-The Seawolves average the fourth most points at 63.7 and rank fifth in defense, allowing 60.9 ppg
-Sonoma State has won two of their last three games and are 5-5 on the road
-In their previous matchup with CPP, the Seawolves defeated the Broncos 74-62
