CARSON, Calif. – The Broncos could not have found a better way to start of California Collegiate Athletic Association play, racking up 19 hits in a 16-4 thumping of Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday in the opening game of the conference schedule.
Jason Padlo led the way at the plate for the Broncos (5-7, 1-0 CCAA), going 5-for-5 with five RBIs and three runs.
On the mound,
Jeff Bain continued to find success, throwing seven innings with 10 hits, four runs and seven strikeouts, picking up his first win of the season to improve to 1-0 in six games.
The Broncos kicked things off early, scoring two runs in the second inning and a single by Padlo brought in
Cody Martin and
Chris Stratton.
CPP continued to pour on the runs, scoring three in third and four more in the fourth inning.
Daniel Pitts finished the day with four RBIs off of three hits while
Brennan McKenzie added three Rbis with four hits and
Frankie Nogales had two RBIs
The Toros (2-8, 0-1 CCAA) made some noise in the sixth inning, scoring three runs off a home run but was quickly silenced by the Broncos' most productive inning, with five runs in the seventh.
Teams continue their four game series with game two Friday afternoon with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
