POMONA, Calif. – After defeating Sonoma State 55-51 to close out the regular season last Saturday, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team will prepare for the Seawolves once again as they open up the California Collegiate Athletic Association Playoffs at Sonoma State on Tuesday.
The Broncos enter the tournament as the sixth-seed after finishing with a conference record of 10-10, going 12-12 overall.
How It Happened: After a rough start to conference play, the Broncos flipped the switch in the second half of the season, winning six games in a row before closing out the season with nine wins and only two losses.
At 15-5 in CCAA play, Chico State and Sonoma State were tied in the standings after splitting the season series as well. The Seawolves won the tiebreaker, holding a better winning percentage over the top team in the conference to snag the third seed.
Head-to-Head: The Broncos split the season series with Sonoma State losing on the road late in December 70-68 in overtime before winning last weekend at home.
Mason Dickerson led the Broncos in their first matchup of the season with 19 points and
Jeremy Dennis finished with 18 points while
Jordan Ogundiran was the high scorer in their win on Saturday with 18 points.
