POMONA, Calif. – With the top four seeds advancing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Postseason Tournament, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team will take on second-seed Cal State East Bay on Friday at 2:35 p.m. at the Sports Center at Cal State San Marcos.
How It Happened: The Broncos advanced to the semifinal round after defeating No. 6 Cal State San Bernardino at home on Tuesday night, winning 54-49.
Chelsea Waddy-Blow and
Dominique Dotson led the way with 17 and 15 points respectively while
Priscilla Brooks tallied 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Pioneers secured this spot in San Marcos with a 68-55 win over Chico State in the opening round of the tournament. Tuesdays' win marked CSUEB's seventh straight and 12
th win out of their last 13 games.
Head-to-Head: The Broncos and the Pioneers split their season series with each team winning at home. CPP earned a victory in their first matchup of the season, defeating East Bay 50-44 in Kellogg Arena. Waddy-Blow was once again the scoring leader, tallying 18 points while
Jordyn Shane finished with nine.
CPP's top ranked defense holds the Pioneers to 6.6 less points per game than their typical season average of 64.6 points.
In game two of the series, East Bay came out on top, 72-62.
Alyssa Benton was the leader for the Broncos with 19 points, her second highest total on the season.
