Broncos Close Out the Season with 10-1 loss to Azusa Pacific

AZUSA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team saw their season come to an end after an amazing second half run, losing to #2 Azusa Pacific 10-1 on the third day of the 2017 NCAA Division II West Regional on Saturday at the Cougar Baseball Complex.

The Broncos finish the 2017 season with an overall record of 34-22, winning the CCAA South Division, picking up two wins in the conference tournament and one win in the NCAA West Region.

The Cougars pounced on the Broncos early, scoring three runs in the first inning before a second inning grand slam gave the host a 7-0 advantage.

Kyle Dohy started on the mound for CPP, tossing 3 2 /3 innings with six hits, four walks and four strikeouts. Pitching in relief was Peter Beattie who went 2 1/3 innings with only one hit while Matthew Grier closed out the game with three hits in two innings.

The Broncos got on the board in the sixth inning after Chris Stratton singled to score Jacob Bernardy after he opened with a leadoff double.
