POMONA – In a close battle with Humboldt State, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team held on to defeat the Jacks 73-70 on the road to reaming in first-place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Broncos jumped out to a quick 6-0, scoring their first nine points from three-point to take a 9-6 advantage.
- The game remained close throughout the night as both teams combined for 12 lead changes and 11 ties.
- After a three by
Riley Schaefer with just over a minute to play in the first half, the Broncos edged out HSU 25-24 heading into the break.
- CPP and HSU finished tied in the rebounding battle 30-30 while the Broncos held the advantage in shooting with a field goal percentage of 50 percent compared to 43 percent from the Jacks.
- Both teams traded baskets back and forth, tying the game at 68-68 with 1:45 left on the clock.
- CPP's bench outscored Humboldt's 23-4 while the Broncos collected 22 points in the paint.
- The Broncos took the lead for good with 42 seconds to play as
William Christmas hit a three to go up 71-68.

Jordan Ogundiran sealed the victory, knocking down two free throws with 5 seconds left in the game.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Schaefer finished with a career-high 18 points to lead the Broncos while adding two steals on the night.

Daylan Lawrence tallied a season-high 14 points while
Quentin Taylor added 14 points of his own.

William Christmas led the Broncos in rebounds with six, adding 12 points in the process.
OUTSIDE THE BOX:
- The Broncos earned the season sweep over Humboldt State after defeating them earlier in the season at Kellogg Arena.
- With CPP improve to 9-1, the Broncos continue to hold on to the first-place spot in the conference standings, a game and a half ahead of UC San Diego.
- The win marks the fifth-straight for the Broncos, including their third-straight on the road.
