POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team kicked off the new year with a road win, defeating San Francisco State 78-68 on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In another game in which the Broncos never trailed, CPP jumped out ahead, scoring the first 13 points of the game, capped off by a three-pointer from
William Christmas.
- San Francisco State scored their first basket of the game nearly five minutes into play while the Broncos continued to lengthen their lead, holding a 22-point advantage at the end of the first half.
- CPP shot 57 percent in the first half on their way to scoring 52 points in the opening period.
- CPP's defense held strong in the first 20 minutes, holding the Gators to a mark of 5-of-20 in the first half.
- The Broncos edged out San Francisco State in rebounds, 33-28, and scored 17 points off of San Francisco mistakes.
- SFSU fought back in the second half, cutting the lead to seven points but couldn't overcome the early deficit, falling to the Broncos 78-68.
KEY PERFORMERS:

Quentin Taylor couldn't miss on Friday, finishing the game a perfect 6-for-6 including going 3-for-3 from behind the arc to lead the Broncos with 16 points.
- Christmas followed with 14 points and five rebounds.

Jordan Ogundiran finished with a team-high six rebounds while he and
Nikhil Peters recorded 12 points each.
- Ogundiran earned a double-double, dishing out 10 assists as well against the Gators.
OUTSIDE THE BOX:
- Friday's win marks the third straight for the Broncos while going 9-1 in their last 10 games.
- The Broncos have won two straight over San Francisco State after splitting last year's series with the Gators.
- This was the first win for the Broncos at The Swamp since the 2015-16 season.
