POMONA – With a 58-48 defeat of Sonoma State on the road on Saturday night, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team remain in first-place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings.
THE BASICS:

Records: CPP (11-2, 8-1 CCAA), SSU (5-8, 3-6 CCAA)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams traded off scoring to start the first half with the Broncos breaking away with a nine-point lead, 14-5, midway through the first half.
- CPP held Sonoma State to a field goal percentage of 34 percent while shooting 45 percent from the field themselves.
- As the Seawolves battled back, CPP ended the first half with a seven-point advantage after a last-second layup by
Riley Schaefer made it 26-19 at the break.
- Sonoma State continued to climb back in, gaining a one-point lead on multiple occasions in the second half but couldn't hold on as the Broncos built their largest lead, 56-45, in the final minute of play.
- CPP edged out Sonoma State in rebounds, 31-29, while scoring 16 points off of turnovers compared to nine from Sonoma.
- Within the final two minutes of play,
Jordan Ogundiran made all six of his free throw attempts to seal the victory for the Broncos.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Ogundiran led the Broncos, finishing with a game-high in both scoring, with 17-points, and rebounds with eight. Ogundiran was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Jeff Nibo earned his third double-digit scoring night with 11 points.
- Schaefer added nine points while
Nikhil Peters collected five rebounds in the game.
OUTSIDE THE BOX:
- The Broncos have now won their fourth straight game in a row, sweeping the weekend of CCAA road games.
- In another strong defensive performance, CPP held their seventh opponent this season to under 60 points.
- With an 8-1 conference record, the Broncos hold a one-game lead over second-place UC San Diego in the league standings.
- The win snaps a two-game losing streak for CPP at The Wolves' Den, including last year's opening round playoff loss.

The Broncos will head back on the road next weekend as they return to Northern California to face off against Humboldt State and Chico State.
