Lucas Sends Broncos To West Region Title Match

SEATTLE, Wash. -- With three minutes left in the first overtime period in a scoreless contest, Eduard Lucas took a pass from Eduardo Faria just inside the goal box and sent it home, lifting the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team to a thrilling 1-0 upset victory over top-seed and No. 4 ranked Simon Fraser in the Second Round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship Tournament on Saturday night at Interbay Stadium in Seattle.

The Broncos (15-6) advance to their fourth straight NCAA West Region title game, which will take place Thursday at 7:00 pm in Azusa against the No. 2 seed in the West, Azusa Pacific, which netted a golden goal in the 96th to eliminate Cal State L.A. with a 2-1 overtime victory, also on Saturday.  The Clan see their season come to an abrupt halt, finishing with a 17-2 overall record.
