#14 Broncos Upended By CSU Monterey Bay, 3-0

SEASIDE, Calif. -- Kristen Hamlin and Andrea Bosnic scored double-digit kills, but the 14th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss (25-20, 25-18, 25-23) on the road at Cal State Monterey Bay Friday night in Seaside.

The Broncos finished the regular season with a 21-4 overall record and a 14-3 mark in the CCAA.  The Otters improved to 16-8 (11-6 CCAA).

Though CPP was held to just .138 on offense, the Broncos forced 36 ties and 17 lead changes in the contest.  In the first set, Cal Poly Pomona tied the frame up at 18-18, and again at 19-19 before CSUMB went on a five-point run to put the set out of reach, en route to the 25-20 win.

It was much of the same in the second set as the Broncos took a 16-15 lead, but the Otters went on a tear, scoring six unanswered points, and 10 of the last 12, to take a 2-0 lead over the visitors.

In the third frame, Cal Poly Pomona took a 22-21 lead late, but Cal State Monterey Bay tallied four of the final five points to stun the Broncos in three.

Hamlin ended the night with 11 kills and hit .273 with five digs and two blocks.  Bosnic had 10 kills and seven digs.  Alex Bosnic finished with 22 digs.

The CCAA will announce the seedings for next weekend's CCAA Championship Tournament after the rest of the conference teams have completed their regular season Saturday night.  Cal Poly Pomona has clinched a spot in the tournament, which is set to take place at Fitzpatrick Arena on the campus of Stanislaus State in Turlock beginning Thursday.

Updated NCAA West Regional rankings were also released on Wednesday, and CPP remained steady at No. 4.  The NCAA will update the regional rankings next Wednesday before the 64-team NCAA Tournament is announced via a live selection show at NCAA.com on Sunday, November 11th at 7:00 pm.
