POMONA -- Five Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball players scored in double-figures, led by 16 from
Dominique Dotson, as the Broncos easily dispatched visiting Chico State, 85-56, on Saturday night at Kellogg Arena in Pomona.
The Broncos rise to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the CCAA as the Wildcats fell to 7-2 (4-2 CCAA).
CPP led from start to finish and even put the game out of reach through the first 20 minutes of action. After outscoring Chico 27-13 in the first quarter, the Broncos extended their lead to 30 points at 52-22 entering the halftime break as CPP allowed just nine points in the second period.
Dotson's 16 points was a game-high as she scored it on 4 of 7 shooting, three of which came from beyond the three-point arc.
Rebecca Islas scored 14 points and added another double-double with 10 rebounds.
Monica Todd and
Mylah Andrada each chipped in with 12 points and
Lauryn Catching tacked on 10 points. As a team, CPP connected on 30 of 68 shots (44.1 percent) while holding Chico to just 19 of 56 (33.9 percent), forcing 22 turnovers, 14 via the steal (Todd had four of them).
Madison Wong led the Wildcats with 15 points, Shay Stark had 11 and Natalie Valenzuela added 10.
Cal Poly Pomona returns to action Monday afternoon, hosting Humboldt State at Kellogg Arena at 2:00 pm on New Year's Eve.
