Baseball Falls in Game Two with CSULA 3-2

POMONA - The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team fell behind 2-0 in the series with Cal State Los Angeles, losing the second game 3-2 on the road.


THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
-    The game began as a pitcher's duel with both teams scoreless through three innings of play.
-    The Broncos got on the board first as Brennan McKenzie launched a solo home run to right center field for the second game in a row to go up 1-0.
-    CSULA answered back right away in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs off of a walk followed by a single and a triple.
-    The Broncos tied the game in the top of the sixth inning as Bryce Etchandy singled through the right side to score McKenzie.
-    Once again, the Eagles found a way to answer, scoring in the bottom of the inning, singling to right field to score the winning run.

KEY PERFORMERS: 
-    Sean Grebeck finished with two hits while Brennan McKenzie collected an RBI off one hit with a walk and two runs.
-    Etchandy finished with one hit and one RBI in the contest.
-    Ryan Alsworth took the loss for the Broncos, finishing with 5 2/3 innings pitched, giving up three runs off of six hits with two strikeouts.
-    Brian Conley pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief, allowing one hit while finishing with four strikeouts.

COMING UP NEXT:
The series will shift to Pomona for the final two games for a doubleheader tentatively scheduled for Sunday. The games were moved from their original time due to expected rain on Saturday.
