TURLOCK – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team had a rough start to their series against Stanislaus State, losing game one 2-0 on the road on Friday night.

GAME SUMMARY:
- Offense was hard to come by for both teams while the Broncos managed only two hits compared to seven from the Warriors.
- The game began as a pitcher's duel, with neither team scoring through the first four innings of play.
- The Broncos had a chance to score in the top of the fifth inning as Bryce Graddy advanced to third base after a fly out to right field, but Cal Poly couldn't manage to bring him home, ending the inning with a strikeout.
- Stanislaus State finally broke the scoreless streak in the bottom of the fifth, scoring the only two runs of the contest. The Warriors scored one run on an RBI groundout to the shortstop while scoring the other on a sacrifice fly to left field.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Matt Manskar and Cesar Lopez registered the two hits for the Broncos while Brennan McKenzie and Nic Hernandez each reached base safely with a walk.
- Despite a strong outing, Ryan Alsworth takes the loss for CPP, moving his overall record to 6-4 on the year. He finished with eight innings pitched, allowing seven hits with two earned runs, one walk and three strikeouts.
