POMONA, Calif. -- Taylor Scott converted a penalty kick in the 70th minute and it would hold up to be the game-winner in Saturday's 1-0 by the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team over visiting Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday night at Kellogg Stadium in Pomona. The Broncos rise to 4-2 overall while the Argonauts remain winless at 0-5.
After being outshot by one in the first half (7-6), Cal Poly Pomona fired up the offense in the final 45 minutes, taking 11 of the 15 shots taken in the second half by either team. However, it would be the one penalty kick by Scott at 69:04 that settled the score.
Broncos goalkeeper
Sydney Williams made six saves in the victory while her counterpart, NDNU's Alexis Aguilar made five stops.
Cal Poly Pomona opens CCAA play Wednesday on the road at Cal State San Bernardino. Kickoff is set for 12:30 pm in San Bernardino.
