Broncos Fall In CCAA Title Game To #2 UCSD

HAYWARD, Calif. -- Five players scored in double-figures, led by the 13 points from Rebecca Islas, but the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team lost 72-60 to top-seeded UC San Diego in the 2019 CCAA Basketball Tournament championship game Saturday evening at Pioneer Gymnasium in Hayward.

The Broncos (25-5) will now await word on its NCAA Tournament fate, which will be announced via a live selection show Sunday at 7:00 pm at NCAA.com.  The Tritons captured their second CCAA tournament title, improving to a perfect 29-0, and will likely be the No. 1 seed and host of next weekend's NCAA Division II West Region Tournament.

Five of the six Broncos to score in Saturday's game tallied double-digit points.  Following Islas with 13 points was Jordyn Shane with 12, Monica Todd and Kasey Smit with 11 and Dominique Dotson with 10.

Following the tournament, it was announced that both Shane and Todd were named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team for their efforts on the court this week.
