SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Taylor Scott once again provided the offense on Saturday, scoring in the 29th minute before burying the golden goal one minute into overtime, propelling the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Seattle Pacific at the PLNU Soccer Field in San Diego.
The Broncos have won three in a row and will head into CCAA play with a 4-2-0 record. The Falcons fall to 2-4-0.
Scott has scored four goals in the last three games, including two golden goals; the other game-winner coming in overtime last Sunday against MSU Denver. On Saturday, she scored at 28:26 on assists from
Taylor Rasmussen and
Ambria Pogue to put the Broncos up 1-0 early. CPP continued to put pressure on the SPU backline throughout the day, eventually outshooting the Falcons 21-6, including 12-1 on goal.
SPU would even the match up at 1-1 on an own goal in the 67th minute on a failed attempt by CPP to clear the ball out of the box, which led to the overtime period. Just 1:24 into extra time, that's when Scott struck again on an assist from
Jessica Llamas for the victory.
Sydney Williams got the win between the posts for the Broncos, making one save on the day.
Cal Poly Pomona returns home on Wednesday to host the CCAA opener against Cal State San Bernardino. Kickoff from Kellogg Stadium is set for 4:30 pm.
