Broncos Extinguish Flames in a 94-49 Victory

POMONA, CA - The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos showcased an offensive spectacle as they cruised to a convincing 94-49 victory over the Bethesda Flames. The Broncos found themselves trailing only briefly in the opening minutes, as the Flames took a 2-0 lead. However, the Broncos quickly seized control, tying their second-highest scoring game under Head Coach Danelle Bishop since 2013, the first being a 96-48 win over Stan State.

Leading the charge for the Broncos was newcomer Kayla Keshmeshian, who drained 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, and notched two steals. Keshmeshian's early pull-up jumper near the right side of the key set the tone as the Broncos surged to a 15-7 lead in the first quarter. Alongside her, Kalaya Buggs contributed 16 points to the winning effort.

The Broncos displayed impressive accuracy from the field, shooting 43.2% by going 38-for-88. Rebounding dominance was another key factor, with the team accumulating a total of 59 rebounds, 24 offensive boards and 35 defensive. Andrea Stajic led the rebounding charge with 11 rebounds alongside her 10 points, collecting a double-double on the night. Inside the paint, the Broncos outscored the Flames 46-22.

In a stunning third quarter, the Broncos exploded for 37 points in just ten minutes of play. Ten different Broncos players took the floor, with nine of them making contributions to the scoresheet.

The youthful bench proved to be a notable asset, as freshmen Mydrea Moore, Keke Scott, and Dalayja Hurt-Floyd combined for 23 points in the second half. Moore recorded her first collegiate points with nine in total, alongside four rebounds and two assists. Scott added eight points and five rebounds, while Hurt-Floyd chipped in six points, four steals, and three assists.

Maintaining their lead throughout the second half, the Broncos sealed the game with a commanding 94-49 victory, marking their second win of the season in their matchup against the Flames.
