POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos split the series with the San Francisco State Gators after a home loss in Kellogg Arena on Thursday night, 74-66.
This loss takes the Broncos overall record to 10-11 and CCAA conference record to 7-10. The Gators record improves to 12-11 overall and 8-9 CCAA.
The Gators held the lead the entire game and had their largest lead of 21 points with 7:05 left on the game. The Broncos did out rebound SFSU, grabbing 40 rebounds against the Gators 33. Another area CPP holds strong is in the paint, outscoring the Gators 33-20 from down low.
In the last six minutes of the game, the Broncos went on a 21-9 run to close the game.
Both freshman guard
Shyheim Parm and sophomore guard
Chris Gayles Jr. led the Broncos in points as they each scored 19 points on the game. Parm connected on six of 14 shots, five of eight from beyond the arc. Gayles Jr. hit six of 11 from the field, and had five rebounds on the game.
The Broncos' next game is Saturday, February 11th as they take on the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters in Kellogg Arena, with tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
