POMONA --
Cal Poly Pomona's Ayana Fields added another accomplishment to her impressive list of accolades as she was named the 2022-23 CCAA Female Athlete of the Year by the 12 sports information staffs across the league.

Fields put together a spectacular junior season on the track collecting four All-America honors and leading the Broncos to their second consecutive CCAA Women's Track & Field championship. She earned CCAA Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year honors and was the High Point Award winner at the CCAA Championships.

Fields collected All-America honors in the 200m, 400m, 4x100 Relay and the 4x400 Relay. Her best finish came in the 200m, where she placed fourth with a time of 23.18. Fields finished sixth in the 400m with a time of 53.48. She repeated as an All-American in both events from the 2022 outdoor season. She added two more All-America honors in the relays, running the anchor leg on each team. She helped the Broncos finish sixth in the 4x100 Relay and seventh in the 4x400 Relay.

Over the last two seasons, Fields has not lost a race at the CCAA Championships. She has earned nine gold medals and been named the Track Athlete of the Meet on both occasions. This year, she registered 25 points with wins in the 200m, 400m, 4x100 and the 4x400. Her time of 22.92 in the 200m was the second-fastest in all of Division II this spring. Her efforts helped Cal Poly Pomona repeat as the CCAA Champions, a title the program had not won since 1998.

Fields helped the 4x100 and 4x400 Relay teams set school records at the NCAA Championships. She added two CCAA Track Athlete of the Week awards and four USTFCCCA All-West Region honors.

She was voted the CPP Female Student-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season and earned two indoor All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March with Top 8 finishes in the 200m (national runner-up) and as the anchor of the 4x400 Relay Team (sixth). During the indoor season, Fields also earned USTFCCCA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Athlete of the Week back in January after she ran the second-fastest indoor 200m time in NCAA Division II history (23.40). It was a mark she went on to break two months later at the NCAA Indoor Championships (23.36), which now stands as the third-fastest indoor 200m time in Division II history.

Fields is the seventh CCAA Female Student-Athlete of the Year award winner for Cal Poly Pomona, and the first in 23 years since Ruth Van't Land of CPP women's soccer earned the honor in back-to-back years for 1998-99 and 1999-00.
