FRESNO, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona's men's and women's cross country teams swept the Second Annual Seawolf Invite Saturday. The Bronco women tallied 32 points - beating out Fresno Pacific University by five points - while the men finished with 21 points to take first.
Angela Arellano led the women with a third-place individual finish, clocking in at 18 minutes, 47.8 seconds over the five kilometers.
Jade Kingston led a slew of Broncos coming in one right after the other, taking seventh with a time of 19:01.9.
Chloe Alchin followed in 19:13.6 to take eighth, while
Vivian Martinez (ninth, 19:13.7) and
Alondra Arias (10th, 19:30.3) rounded out the top 10.
Julia Butler was just outside a top-10 finish after crossing the line in 19:36.1 for 11th.
On the men's side, four Broncos placed in the top five, led by
Daniel Echeveste's second-place finish of 20:02.1.
Vincent Sarino followed in third with a time of 20:12.2, while
Leandro Candray took fourth in 20:17.3 and
Nicholas Albro grabbed fifth in 20:21.8.
Evan Franco (seventh, 20:24.7) and
Chris Razo (ninth, 20:31.0) also placed in the top 10 for CPP on the four-mile course.
The Broncos take a week off before heading to Riverside for the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 16.
