POMONA, CA – For the ninth consecutive match, Cal Poly Pomona volleyball has come out on top. With their 3-0 win over Stanislaus State on Friday afternoon, the No. 14 ranked Broncos improve to 12-1 on the season and a perfect 7-0 at home and 5-0 in CCAA play. It was also their third consecutive sweep, dating back to their win against #23 Cal State LA on September 22nd.
Â
Three different Broncos notched double-digit kills against the Warriors, including
Daisy Duke (13),
Samantha Campion (10), and
Madison Novak (10). CPP dominated the attack, finishing with 42 kills to Stanislaus State's 21, and sporting a .379 attack percentage – their third-highest in a match this season.
Â
After trading points at the start, the Broncos went up 18-7 in the first set after a six-point run that included multiple blocks from Campion and
Kaitlan Tucker. They would maintain at least a nine-point lead for the remainder of the set, and an
Emeline Hudson kill would put a cap on it at 25-15 in favor of CPP.
Â
The second set featured a similar story, trading blows until the Broncos went on a five-point run, three of which came from kills by Duke, to give them separation with a 10-4 lead. The Warriors fought back to bring the set within two, but kills by Novak and Duke, paired with multiple attack errors by Stanislaus State, gave the Broncos everything they needed to pull away. The Broncos closed out the set with the score at 25-16.
Â
The Broncos had their hottest streak of the day in the third set. After losing the first point, CPP went on an 11-point tear to take a commanding 11-1 lead. Campion gathered six of her 10 kills in the third set alone, four of which came in that 11-point stretch. Appropriately, Duke earned the kill on the match point to seal the Broncos'Â third consecutive sweep and ninth straight victory.

CCAA Setter of the Week
