TURLOCK, Calif. – Four Broncos reached double figures in Thursday's game, leading the Broncos to a 73-64 victory over Stanislaus State. With the win, the Broncos improve to 4-10 on the season and 3-7 in CCAA play while the Warriors fall to 5-11 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
Bam Johnson,
Brandon Porter,
Michael Ofoegbu, and
Malcolm Bell each reached double figures in the win. Johnson led the way with 16 points, the seventh time he has scored more than ten points in a game this season. Porter was close behind with 14 of his own, delivering the strongest all-around performance with eight rebounds and two blocks. Both Ofoegbu and Bell scored 10 points, Bell reaching that mark for the first time in his collegiate career.
The Broncos featured one of their better shooting performances of the season, going 49 percent from the floor and 35 percent from three-point range – each the third highest of the season thus far. Additionally, their 70 percent shooting from the free throw line was their second-best performance form the charity stripe this season.
After securing a slim 35-33 lead headed into half, the Broncos quickly allowed the Warriors to gain the lead at the start of the second half – where they would hang on to it for the next 10 minutes of play. With 8:41 to go, Johnson landed a three to put the Broncos ahead by one – a lead they would hang onto for the remainder of the game. With the win, the Broncos are now 347-52 (.870) when leading at halftime during the Kamansky-era.
