Broncos Sweep Road Trip With 74-64 Win in Seaside

SEASIDE, Calif. – The CPP men's basketball team picked up their third win in their past four games, sweeping their road trip with wins at both Stanislaus State and Cal State Monterey Bay. With the win on Saturday, the Broncos improve to 5-10 on the season and 4-7 in CCAA play.

Brandon Porter once again led the scoring for the Broncos, scoring 21 points for his fifth 20-point game of the season. Porter leads CPP with 216 points on the season, while also ranking Top 15 in the CCAA in points scored.

Jaden Winfield and Michael Ofoegbu both scored in double figures against the Otters, Winfield with his fourth double-digit performance of the season and Ofoegbu with his fifth.

The team saw a massive improvement in shooting beyond the arc, going 10-for-23 (.435) on Saturday. This was both the most made threes, and highest three-point percentage, of the season. Porter led the way with four, tying his season-high. Bam Johnson was close behind with three of his own, tying a career-high.

The bench showed up, contributing 27 points in the win. Contrarily, the Otters saw zero points from their bench, every single point coming from one of their five starters. CPP also controlled the paint, outscoring CSUMB 18-10.

The Broncos barely held on to the lead at the end of the first half, coming from a Johnson three-point buzzer beater to put CPP ahead 35-34. The team applied pressure in the second half, never relinquishing their lead to walk away with a 74-64 victory.
