LOS ANGELES, Calif. - In a thrilling matchup, the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos secured a 2-1 victory over the Cal State LA Golden Eagles, solidifying their position as the second-ranked team in the nation.
The first half proved challenging for both teams, with the Broncos unable to break the deadlock until just before halftime. Junior, Liberty Ortiz opened the scoring for the Broncos at 42:53, finding the back of the net just before halftime. Senior, Tara Oper extended the lead with a well-placed shot at 68:46, putting the Broncos ahead 2-0. The Golden Eagles fought back, with a goal at 79:23.
Cal Poly Pomona dominated possession, registering 12 shots with 6 on target, while Cal State LA managed 9 shots, 5 of which were saved by the Broncos' goalkeeper, Bella Hara. Notable performances came from Bella Anderson, Tara Oper, Giselle Samayoa, Liberty Ortiz,and Bella Hara, each playing the full 90 minutes and contributing to the team's offensive and defensive efforts.
