Broncos Narrow the Gap, but East Bay Prevails

HAYWARD, Calif. - The Broncos fell just short in a tough contest, losing to Cal State East Bay by a close 65-67 margin. From the tip-off, the Broncos faced an uphill climb, as East Bay quickly built a 13-point lead just five minutes into the game.

A timely timeout by head coach Greg Kamansky helped the Broncos settle in, as they slowly began to chip away at the deficit. However, despite their best efforts, they were unable to fully close the gap in the first half, heading into the break down 25-35.

The Broncos came out with a sense of urgency in the second half, determined to mount a comeback. Slowly but surely, they began to cut into East Bay's lead. With just under 10 minutes remaining, they had narrowed the gap to just one point. By the seven-minute mark, the Broncos had taken their first lead of the game, pushing ahead by a point.

What followed was a thrilling back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging leads and tying the game multiple times. With under a minute left, the Broncos fought hard to regain the advantage, but costly fouls allowed East Bay to maintain their slim lead and secure the victory.

East Bay, which led for 88.1% of the game, had a largest lead of 13 points, but the Broncos' resilience kept them in the hunt until the final buzzer. Multiple Broncos stepped up to almost pull off the upset, with Jaden Winfield, Zach Broadous, and Miles Lewis all scoring double figures. Winfield added eight rebounds, while Jordan Carpenter grabbed seven boards to help the team's efforts.
