Broncos Storm Past Gators, Buggs Delivers Triple-Double

SAN FRANCISCO - The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos cruised to a commanding 71-37 win over the San Francisco State Gators in a game that showcased their depth and defensive intensity.

From the opening tip, the Broncos came out firing. They held the Gators scoreless for the first six minutes, racing out to an 11-0 lead before San Francisco State could finally put points on the board. By the end of the first quarter, Cal Poly Pomona had established a commanding 20-4 lead.

The second quarter saw more of the same as the Broncos continued to build on their lead. They were stifling on defense, limiting the Gators to just 10 points in the first half. On the offensive end, the Broncos kept rolling and went into halftime with a dominant 38-10 advantage.

Coming out of the break, the Broncos didn't let up. While the Gators managed to find some offensive rhythm, putting up 12 points in the third quarter, it wasn't nearly enough to close the gap. The Broncos outscored them 18-12 in the period, leaving the score at 56-22 heading into the final quarter.

The Gators made a strong push in the fourth, but it was too little, too late. They outscored the Broncos 14-15 in the final frame, but Cal Poly Pomona's big lead from earlier in the game proved insurmountable.

Kalaya Buggs put up an all-around performance, leading the Broncos with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and four steals for the fifth triple-double performance in program history. Sydney Nelson led the team in scoring with 16 points, while Breanne Ha and Cookie Marques contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively. Impressively, every single Bronco who saw the floor got on the scoreboard, showcasing the team's well-rounded offensive attack.
