ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball was tabbed the favorites in the upcoming 2025-26 season, it was announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. The Broncos, coming off an impressive 25-6 campaign during the 2024-25 season, look to reclaim their first conference title in over a decade.
The WBCA Division II Preseason Poll also came out on Tuesday morning, seeing the Broncos ranked No. 14 in the country to start the season. The team reached as high as No. 13 in the national rankings last year, marking their highest since 2014.
Head Coach
Danelle Bishop, entering her 15
th season at CPP, said the team is ready to embrace the challenge. "Given our program's history, we understand that every season comes with a target on our backs. This year will be no exception. We must remain vigilant and ready in every practice and game. Our team is hungry for success, and I am confident that we will rise to the challenge each week."

The Broncos will be led by returning All-CCAA First Team junior
Sydney Nelson, who started in all 28 games last season and led the team with 16.7 points per game. Nelson had the highest field goal percentage in the CCAA at 57 percent, while also scoring double figures in all but four games.
"As we prepare for the upcoming season, several essential factors must be considered," continued Bishop. "First and foremost, it's crucial that every player embraces our standards and culture. Secondly, maintaining our health throughout the season is imperative. Finally, we must approach each game with focus, taking them one at a time rather than looking ahead. It's a long season, but I firmly believe that if we adhere to these principles, the sky is the limit for our team."
Senior
Jeanette Fine looks to bounce back from an injury-shortened season, having been named All-CCAA Honorable Mention as a junior in 2023-24. Seniors
Andrea Stajic,
Keke Scott, and
Alexis Woodson, as well as juniors
Mydrea Moore and
Brielle Minor, will add veteran depth to an experienced Bronco squad. Moore led the team on the glass last season averaging 6.0 rebounds per game, while junior
Khamiyah Anderson also added 4.9 per game.
"This year, we welcome many new faces who have the potential to make a significant impact," added Bishop. "Our freshmen have already demonstrated their capabilities, contributing both offensively and defensively. Additionally, newcomer
Jolleen Olia has added valuable depth to our roster as a shooting guard."
The Broncos will open the 2025-26 season with the CCAA/PacWest Challenge in San Marcos on November 14-15th, where they will face PacWest foes Point Loma and Azusa Pacific. Cal Poly Pomona will then begin CCAA play on December 4
th against Cal State LA at home. For the first time since 2018, the Broncos will host the 2026 CCAA Tournament in Kellogg Arena from March 5-7th.
