POMONA, Calif. –
Sarah Ybarra took center stage in Cal Poly Pomona volleyball's 3-0 sweep on Saturday afternoon, hitting at a .640 clip for the second-highest hitting percentage in a match in school history under the current scoring format. With the win (25-17, 25-13, 25-14), the Broncos improve to a perfect 6-0 in CCAA play while also improving to 8-4 on the season.
Ybarra led a balanced Bronco attack, finishing with a match-high 17 kills on an exceptional .640 hitting percentage, while adding nine digs and two blocks.
Elle Walker followed with 11 kills at a .455 clip, and
Charlotte Koerber added eight kills and five digs while also hitting over .400. Setter
Kacie Caoili was the engine of the offense, distributing 37 assists. The true freshman Caoili has now logged at least 30 assists in nine of her first 10 collegiate matches.
Cal Poly Pomona's offense was in rhythm all afternoon, hitting an impressive .463 as a team, their highest in a match since October 15
th, 2022. Middle blocker
Alexia Athans anchored the net defense, tying a career-high eight blocks. The Broncos' efficiency showed from the start, opening the match with a .500 hitting percentage in the first set, highlighted by Ybarra's six kills and Koerber's closing strike that secured the 25–17 win.
The second set saw Pomona's most dominant stretch, as the Broncos surged to a 13–3 lead behind two aces from libero
Kaden Young and four kills from Walker. Cal Poly Pomona never looked back, finishing the frame with a score of 25–13.
In the third, the Broncos jumped ahead 8–0 on Ybarra's early flurry and two aces from
Renee Nachtigall. The Cougars never recovered as CPP maintained control, clinching the sweep on Walker's fifth kill of the set.
Anastacia Garza also added six kills in the win, hitting .364 in the match. The Sacramento native's .323 hitting percentage this season currently ranks second-best in the entire CCAA among qualified players.

th, in Seaside against Cal State Monterey Bay. They will then travel up to Cal State East Bay on Saturday, October 11th.
