Broncos End Season with 7-6-5 Record After Tough Loss to Cal State San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona concluded its 2025 campaign with a 2-1 loss to Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday afternoon. The result brought the Broncos' final record to 7-6-5 overall and 2-5-3 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play, placing them eighth in the conference standings.

The Broncos fell behind early in the match as Cal State San Bernardino scored twice in the first half. Goalkeeper Jack Chapman made two saves to keep Cal Poly Pomona within reach, while Hector Arellanes and Andres Gutierrez each created strong chances before halftime.

In the second half, Kaden Gust took over in goal and added two saves to keep the Broncos close. Cal Poly Pomona found its breakthrough in the 78th minute when Aleksandar Somov scored off assists from Daniel Gutierrez and Marvin Gamez to make it 2-1. The Broncos continued to press in the closing minutes, with shots from Gamez and Joseph Spencer narrowly missing the target.

Cal Poly Pomona finished with 10 total shots, including four on goal. Somov led the way with one goal, while Gamez and Gutierrez each recorded an assist. Mads Frederiksen, Miguel Gonzalez, Arellanes, Spencer, Emiliano Garcia, Victor Casillas, and Gutierrez, Andres all contributed offensively with shot attempts.

Defensively, Marcus Jorgensen, Lucas Gonzalez, Adam Benyoussef, and Liam McFarlane provided key minutes along the backline, while midfielders Omar Garcia, Jakob Singh, Clement Badger, and Jack Brysland added depth in the rotation.

The Broncos close the season with an overall winning record, highlighted by balanced contributions across the roster.
