No. 2 Broncos Secure Fifth Straight Win

POMONA, Calif. - The No. 2-ranked Broncos extended their perfect start to the season with a 3-1 victory over Fort Lewis College on Thursday night at Kellogg Stadium. The win pushed Cal Poly Pomona's unbeaten streak to five games and came in the inaugural meeting between the two programs.

Cal Poly Pomona came out with intensity, dominating possession and keeping Fort Lewis under pressure from the opening whistle. Early chances from Vanessa Cruz and Marisa Salazar forced Fort Lewis' goalkeeper into action early, as she made several key saves to keep the match scoreless. But in the 15th minute, Cal Poly Pomona broke through when Ally Henry found the back of the net following a corner kick, giving the Broncos a 1-0 lead.

Henry's goal was a special one, setting the tone for the rest of the night. "That moment meant a lot to me, I'll cherish it," she said after the match. "All the obstacles I faced before this season were worth it and I felt blessed to be with my teammates out there tonight." The Broncos carried that energy into the locker room, leading 1-0 at halftime with momentum clearly on their side.

In the second half, CPP continued to dictate the pace. Just under 13 minutes in, Henry added her second goal of the night, to extend the lead to 2-0. Less than three minutes later, Cruz capped off her relentless performance with a goal of her own, making it 3-0 and effectively sealing the match.

Fort Lewis managed to cut the deficit in the 76th minute, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Still, the Broncos remained composed and closed out the game without allowing another clear chance.

CPP finished the night with 19 total shots to Fort Lewis's 9. Jenna Tetrault provided a steady presence in goal, while Henry's two-goal performance and Cruz's finish highlighted the Broncos' offensive depth and precision.
