POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona continued CCAA play with a home setback on Thursday night, falling 70-55 to Cal State San Bernardino at Kellogg Arena. The loss moves the Broncos to 8-7 overall and 3-6 in conference, as the Coyotes used a strong second-half push to pull away.
CPP set the tone early, opening the game with crisp ball movement and defensive pressure to build an early advantage.
Jake Goldberg connected from deep to spark the offense, and the Broncos controlled the pace for much of the first half. Despite the strong start, Cal State San Bernardino stayed within reach by converting inside and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities, edging ahead 30-29 at the break.
The Coyotes seized momentum coming out of halftime, scoring on consecutive possessions and tightening defensively to create separation. Cal Poly Pomona briefly answered with a three from Goldberg and transition finishes, but turnovers and missed perimeter looks stalled any sustained run.
San Bernardino continued to extend the lead with efficient shooting and consistent trips to the free-throw line, preventing the Broncos from closing the gap. CPP continued to compete inside and on the glass, but struggled to find offensive rhythm down the stretch as the Coyotes pulled away.
Goldberg led the Broncos with 11 points, while
Malcolm Bell and
Michael Saba each added 10.
Kevin Simeth contributed across the stat sheet with nine points and nine rebounds, but Cal Poly Pomona was unable to overcome the second-half surge as CSUSB closed out the 70–55 result.
