LONG BEACH, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona volleyball head coach Traci Dahl was inducted into the Long Beach State Athletics Hall of Fame last Wednesday, January 21st, as a member of the 1993 Women's Volleyball NCAA National Championship team.

The '93 squad, led by coaching great Brian Gimmillaro, went 32-2 overall and won 15 straight matches to close out the season, culminating in a 3-1 win over Penn State in Madison, Wisconsin for the program's fourth national title.

Dahl, who played two seasons at LBSU from 1993-94, was a middle blocker on the championship team as a junior. The Broncos' current head coach had an impactful career as a 49er, being named a two-time All-Big West honoree, first team All-West Region, and a second team AVCA All-American as a senior in 1994. Dahl was also named AVCA National Player of the Week on November 14, 1994, as well as Big West Player of the Week twice that same season.

"It was such an honor to be recognized by Long Beach State Athletics," said Dahl when reflecting on the induction. "Our 1993 team accomplished so much that year, and capping it off with a national championship was amazing."

To this day, Dahl appears in the LBSU volleyball record book 23 different times, ranking eighth all-time in career attack percentage (.348), second in single match hitting percentage (.535), and fourth in single match solo blocks (5). Dahl led the 49ers in attack percentage as a senior in 1994, swinging at a .358 clip, while also leading the team in solo blocks (32), assisted blocks (124), and blocks per set (1.34).

"Spending time with my former coaches and teammates was special," added Dahl when asked about the ceremony on January 21st. "We got to talk about old times and different memories that led to the title match. It was truly a night to remember."

Dahl is now a member of two Hall of Fames, having also been inducted into the Cerritos College Hall of Fame in 2013.
