POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona bounced back Saturday afternoon with an 80-62 victory over San Francisco State, improving to 11-9 overall and 6-8 in CCAA play. The Broncos controlled the game from the opening minutes, using defensive activity, rebounding, and interior scoring to build an early lead and maintain separation throughout.
CPP set the tone early, forcing turnovers and converting them into transition opportunities to jump out in front. The Broncos established control in the paint on both ends of the floor, holding San Francisco State to 26 first-half points while steadily extending the margin. Cal Poly Pomona carried a 37-26 lead into halftime, never allowing the Gators to find a consistent offensive rhythm.
Coming out of the break, the Broncos continued to dictate the pace. Efficient shooting and strong second-chance efforts fueled a decisive run that pushed the lead to over 20 points midway through the second half. San Francisco State attempted to respond with fast-break baskets, but CPP answered each push with timely scores and defensive stops to keep the advantage intact.
Cal Poly Pomona closed out the game by controlling the glass and attacking the paint, finishing with 48 points inside and 18 second-chance points. The Broncos maintained control down the stretch to secure the 80-62 win.
