LAWRENCE, Kan. - Ricardo Vargas placed third individually as Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country finished fifth at the Division II Pre-Nationals on Saturday at Rim Rock Farm.

Vargas covered the eight-kilometer course in 24:02.0, marking the sixth-fastest time on CPP's all-time 8K performance list.

Luke D'Elia followed in 24th place at 24:59.8, while Ethan Romero finished 32nd in 25:08.2. Micah Chandler placed 37th with a time of 25:11.2, and Micah Clemons completed the Broncos' scoring lineup in 45th at 25:16.0.

Cullen Gully finished close behind Clemons, placing 46th in 25:17.7. The Broncos' top five runners finished within 1 minute, 14 seconds of one another, helping CPP compile 140 points and finish fifth in the 15-team field.

The performance continued Cal Poly Pomona's strong recent history at major national-level competitions. The Broncos entered the meet ranked No. 14 after qualifying for the NCAA Championships in each of the past four seasons, including an 18th-place finish nationally in 2025.
