Broncos’ Unbeaten Run Ends at Stanislaus State

TURLOCK, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona controlled the attacking numbers but suffered its first loss of the season, falling 1-0 to Stanislaus State on Thursday at Warrior Stadium. The Broncos moved to 7-1-6 overall and 3-1-4 in CCAA play.

CPP set the tone, forcing a save just 16 seconds into the match on Sabine Ramos' attempt. The Broncos dominated the opening half with a 12-1 advantage in shots and placed five efforts on target, but entered halftime scoreless.

The match's lone goal came in the 71st minute when the hosts converted a penalty kick for a 1-0 advantage. CPP continued applying pressure and created multiple late opportunities. Ramos forced a save in the 77th minute, and Charlie Gallardo placed another attempt on frame in the 84th, but the Broncos could not find the equalizer.

CPP finished with a 20-5 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Gallardo led all players with seven attempts and placed three on target. Carly Radke added six shots, while Ramos contributed three attempts with two on goal. Morgan Huff placed both of her shots on frame.

Defensively, the Broncos limited the hosts to only five shots and one corner kick. Parker LaMont recorded one save while playing all 90 minutes. Holly Wilbanks, Georgia Rink, Braedyn Kincade, Gallardo and Angelina Santana went the distance for CPP.

The Broncos earned five corner kicks and held 54% possession but saw their two-match winning streak and season-opening 13-match unbeaten run come to an end.
