POMONA, Calif. – Marvin Gamez scored twice as Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer earned a 4-1 victory over No. 20 Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday at Kellogg Stadium.

With the victory, CPP secured its place in the 2026 CCAA Tournament, hosted at Kellogg Stadium from Nov. 1-8.

The Broncos improved to 7-4-5 overall and 5-2-3 in CCAA play, handing the Coyotes their third loss of the season. CPP produced 15 shots, placed seven on goal and held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Gamez opened the scoring in the 13th minute, converting a penalty kick for his 10th goal of the season. Cal State San Bernardino answered less than four minutes later, but the Broncos regained control before halftime.

Nico Sanchez supplied the go-ahead goal in the 33rd minute, finding the net unassisted for his fourth goal of the campaign. Sanchez provided a spark off the bench, finishing with three shots and placing two on frame as CPP carried a 2-1 lead into the break.

The Broncos extended their advantage in the 67th minute when Aleksandar Somov scored his second goal of the season, set up by a corner kick by Efren Nunez Dominguez. Gamez then completed his brace three minutes later, converting his second penalty kick to secure the 4-1 result. His team-leading 11th goal capped a four-goal performance for the CPP attack.

Goalkeeper Kaden Gust made one save and earned his second victory, while the Broncos' defense added a team save. Gamez led CPP with four shots, Sanchez added three and Clement Badger recorded two. Three different Broncos found the net as CPP secured three conference points and closed its home schedule with a decisive 4-1 home victory.
