Broncos Crowned CCAA Regular-Season Champions for Fourth Straight Year

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer rallied for a 2-1 victory over Cal State San Marcos at The Cage, securing the program's fourth consecutive CCAA regular-season championship.

The No. 13 Broncos finished the regular season 11-1-6 overall and 8-1-4 in conference play. Coupled with Cal State LA's draw against Cal State Dominguez Hills, CPP's victory placed the Broncos atop the CCAA standings for the fourth straight season.

Cal State San Marcos opened the scoring in the 35th minute, but CPP responded just 88 seconds later. Bailey Guerrero set up Morgan Huff, who struck from 35 yards out for her second goal of the season, bringing the match level at 1-1.

The Broncos completed the turnaround before halftime. In the 43rd minute, Tristan Tessier buried a free kick for her first goal of the season, giving CPP a 2-1 advantage. Both Huff and Tessier provided production off the bench after entering in the 35th minute.

CPP's defense protected the lead throughout the second half, limiting the Cougars to three shots. Goalkeeper Parker LaMont made two saves, including a stop in the 88th minute to preserve the victory.

The Broncos held advantages in shots, 6-5, shots on goal, 4-3, and possession, 51- 49 percent. Tessier led CPP with two attempts, while Sabine Ramos, Charlie Gallardo, Huff and Jenna Santos each recorded one. Holly Wilbanks, Mikaela Marr and Angelina Santana played all 90 minutes as the Broncos closed the regular season with a championship performance.
