FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona baseball dropped Saturday's game at Amerige Park in Fullerton, falling to NAIA No. 4 ranked Hope International by a score of 6-2 on the road. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 5-4 overall and 2-1 on the road.

The Broncos got on the board in the top of the first inning, coming from an RBI single from
Christian Gomez to score both
Austin Duarte and
Daniel Ruiz. However, this would prove to be the only runs of the game for the Broncos as they were held scoreless in the remaining eight innings. The Broncos collected six hits in the game, including two from Gomez as well singles from Duarte, Ruiz,
Ashton Romero, and
Justin Yeutter.

On the mound, starting pitcher
Matt Lorenzano worked five innings and collected seven strikeouts while allowing Hope International to score three earned runs. Reliever
Jameson Ferraro allowed two more to score in two innings of work, while
Hauze Fragoso tossed a scoreless eighth while striking out two in his season debut.

Hope International dominated the middle innings, scoring two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, ultimately separating themselves with timely extra-base hits. The Broncos, who entered the game leading the CCAA with a .980 team fielding percentage, didn't help themselves on defense, committing a season-high four errors in the loss.
