WALNUT, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona track and field opened the 2026 outdoor season at the Ron Kamaka Multis, with three Broncos making their outdoor debuts.
In the decathlon, Evan Johnson led the team with 5,827 points, highlighted by runner-up finishes in the javelin, high jump and pole vault. Sam Coupland scored 5,308 points and claimed event wins in the long jump, pole vault and 1500 meters, marking those as key strengths to open the season.
On the women's side, Esme Pounder totaled 4,121 points in the heptathlon. She recorded second-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump and shot put to lead her performance.
The Broncos begin the 2026 outdoor campaign with strong individual finishes and momentum moving forward.
