POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona closed out its 2026 regular season home slate with a 74-60 victory over conference rival Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Broncos improve to 15-11 overall and 10-10 in CCAA play while earning a split so far in this season's Cal Poly Clash series.
Pomona established control early behind defensive pressure and efficient offense. After a brief tie in the opening minutes, the Broncos generated momentum through transition play. A steal by Simeth led to a fastbreak opportunity, and Malcolm Bell and Jake Goldberg converted inside to spark a scoring run. Midway through the half, Pomona found its rhythm from beyond the arc as Goldberg and Michael Saba connected from deep to extend the lead.
Demarreya Lewis Cooper orchestrated the offense with poise, dishing out assists during a key stretch that pushed the Broncos' advantage into double digits. Cal Poly Pomona carried a 41-31 lead into the break.
Humboldt responded early in the second half, trimming the deficit to single digits with timely three-point shooting and aggressive drives to the basket. The Lumberjacks cut the lead to four halfway into the second half, but the Broncos answered with composure. Lewis Cooper knocked down a mid range jumper to steady the offense, and Bell followed with strong finishes in the paint to rebuild momentum.
A key run midway through the half helped Pomona regain full control. Bell converted an and one opportunity before finishing a steal with a dunk to extend the lead. Goldberg later connected from three with just over two minutes remaining, stretching the advantage to 15 and sealing the Senior Night victory.
