CLAREMONT, Calif. -Â The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos turned in a commanding performance at the Rossi Relays hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, capturing 1st place overall out of 19 teams.
The Broncos were dominant in the field events, highlighted by a first place finish in the high jump. Darius Hill and Harry Chen both cleared 2.09m to earn NCAA Division II provisional marks and share the event title, while Bryson Williamson added a third-place clearance at 2.04m. In the pole vault, Jered Beasley, Gavin Hanes, and Ian Strode each cleared 4.85m to tie for first. Collin Joyce added a second-place finish in the long jump at 7.02m, and Cory Gamero placed second in the discus with a throw of 48.03m. John Dvorak led the javelin group with a mark of 53.13m.
On the track, Deandre Smith and Konnor Handy paced the 100 meters, both clocking 10.94. In the 3000 meters, Ricardo Vargas led the distance squad with an 8:13.44 performance, followed by Jimmy Guerrero in 8:18.07.
Cal Poly Pomona's depth across all event areas powered a decisive team victory and strong early-season momentum.
