Women’s Basketball Secures No. 1 Seed in Regular Season Finale

LOS ANGELES – Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball secured the outright CCAA regular season title with a 74-70 win over Cal State LA on Saturday afternoon, snapping the Golden Eagles' 15-game winning streak while also locking up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCAA Tournament. The Broncos finish the regular season with a 25-3 overall record while going 20-2 in CCAA play – tying 2000-01 for the most conference wins in a season in program history.

The No. 10 ranked Broncos built an eight-point lead late in the first quarter behind relentless work on the glass and efficient scoring in the paint, a formula that has proved successful for this Bronco team all season. Cal Poly Pomona led for more than 32 minutes in the game and outscored the Golden Eagles 42-34 in the paint while holding a decisive 23-7 edge in second-chance points. The Broncos carried a 36-30 advantage into halftime and responded each time Cal State LA threatened down the stretch.

Mydrea Moore delivered a dominant performance inside, finishing with 19 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for a double-double, marking season highs in both categories. Hunter Hudson added 14 points and 13 rebounds, recording her fifth double-double in her past eight games.

The team's leading scorer, Sydney Nelson, contributed 13 points and five assists, knocking down crucial free throws in the final minute to help seal the win. Andrea Stajic also scored 13 points, including a three-pointer midway through the fourth quarter that extended the Broncos' lead to nine. Brielle Minor chipped in eight points and six rebounds, highlighted by a momentum-swinging trey during a fourth-quarter run, while senior Alexis Woodson rounded out the scoring with seven points of her own.

The Broncos shot 75 percent from the free throw line and outrebounded the Golden Eagles 53-42, controlling the boards in decisive fashion to lock down the outright CCAA title and No. 1 seed.
