Stajic Scores Career-High to Send Broncos to CCAA Championship

POMONA, Calif. – For the second straight season, Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball is headed to the CCAA Tournament Championship. The No. 1 seeded Broncos defeated No. 4 seed Chico State 79-57 in Kellogg Arena on Friday afternoon, thanks to a career performance from redshirt junior Andrea Stajic.

Stajic finished with a game-high 25 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding five rebounds. Sydney Nelson complemented the effort with 14 points, consistently attacking the paint in transition, while Brielle Minor filled the stat sheet with 13 points, seven assists and steady defensive pressure. Minor's playmaking helped the Broncos convert 20 points off turnovers and generate 21 fast-break points.

The Broncos set the tone from the opening tip, erupting for 28 first-quarter points while holding the Wildcats to just 12. Stajic spearheaded the early surge, pouring in 17 points in the first period alone on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting performance, including 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. Her hot start fueled a 16-point advantage by the end of the quarter and gave CPP a lead it would not relinquish.

Inside, Hunter Hudson was a force on the glass, collecting 13 rebounds to anchor a 56-32 advantage on the boards. Hudson's eight offensive rebounds alone nearly matched the entire Chico State roster, who only pulled down nine boards on offense. The Broncos capitalized on second-chance opportunities, converting into 17 points.

CPP carried a 43-23 lead into halftime and extended the margin to as many as 29 in the third quarter. Balanced scoring continued throughout the second half, with contributions from Mydrea Moore and Kadence Lloyd helping maintain the cushion.

Defensively, the Broncos limited Chico State to 37 percent shooting and just 3-of-16 from three-point range, while forcing 17 turnovers.
