POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona Athletics and Head Coach Jay Mason have announced the addition of Emma Barrow as an assistant coach for the Broncos' women's soccer program. Barrow returns to Cal Poly Pomona after a successful collegiate playing career and brings valuable coaching experience to the Broncos' staff.

"We are thrilled to welcome a former Bronco to our staff—someone who exemplifies the intangibles of exceptional leadership," said Mason. "She has consistently elevated every program she has been a part of, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to excellence. I know our team is excited to add another outstanding female leader of such high character to our staff."

Barrow most recently served as an assistant coach at Western Oregon in 2025, where she helped lead the Wolves to the NCAA postseason with an 11-5-5 record. Prior to that, she was an assistant coach at CSU Bakersfield in 2024, where she helped guide the Roadrunners to a Big West Championship title game appearance.

As a student-athlete, Barrow competed at the NCAA Division I level at the University of San Diego from 2016-19, appearing in 40 matches with 24 starts as a defender and midfielder. She totaled two goals and one assist while logging more than 2,100 minutes for the Toreros. Barrow concluded her collegiate career at Cal Poly Pomona in 2021, where she made an immediate impact leading the team with six goals and an assist. She earned All-CCAA Honorable Mention recognition and was named to the 2020 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll.

"Returning to coach at Cal Poly Pomona as an alum is incredibly special, and I am grateful for the chance to contribute to the program that helped me grow so much," said Barrow. "What excites me about joining this coaching staff is their dynamic, thoughtful leadership, relentless dedication, and commitment to athlete development and growth. I am excited to work alongside and learn from such an outstanding coaching and support staff again. I hope to bring energy, support, passion, new perspective, and a strong Bronco connection to the team."

A native of Castro Valley, California, Barrow earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology: Law, Crime and Social Justice from the University of San Diego in 2020. She later returned to Cal Poly Pomona to complete her Master of Public Administration (MPA) in 2022. Barrow's return marks a homecoming for the former Bronco, now set to contribute to the continued success of the program from the sidelines.

"I look forward to building relationships with our student-athletes and helping them grow into confident people, leaders, and players," continued Barrow. "I am honored to help continue building an elite student-athlete experience at CPP and chase more championships. Go Broncos!"
