Game 1: CPP 9, CSULA 3
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning on a sacrifice fly, the Broncos quickly responded with an
Austin Duarte solo home run in the top of the second to tie the game at 1-1, marking the third of the season for the redshirt freshman.
A two-run fourth inning gave CPP its first lead of the game, coming from a Duarte RBI single through the right side and a
Sebastian Arguelles RBI single through the left side. The swing of the game came in the top of the fifth inning, as
Jack Sanders stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded. On a 1-0 count, the redshirt senior launched his fifth career grand slam to left field, putting CPP up 7-1. The home run marked Sanders' 13
th of the season and 28
th of his career, tying him with Ryan Vorell (1998-01) and Marty Rivero (1983-86) for fourth all-time on the home run list.
The Green & Gold added on some insurance in the top of the eighth, with
Tyler Blade doubling to right center to plate both Arguelles and
Bryan Richman to extend the lead to 9-3. Six different players collected multiple hits in the game, including each of the bottom four hitters of the lineup.
On the mound,
Anthony Vasquez went 4.0 innings with one run allowed on six hits and three strikeouts.

Game 2: CPP 4, CSULA 15
The momentum drastically shifted in game two as Cal State LA erupted offensively, handing the Broncos a 15-4 loss to split the doubleheader. The Golden Eagles shocked the Bronco squad out of the gate, plating 11 runs in the first two innings to put the game out of reach early.
Despite the setback, the Broncos got on the board in the third inning on a
Dominic Porter RBI double down the left field line, and added another run in the sixth on an RBI groundout from senior
Gage Gonzales.
Dominic De Feo capped the scoring for CPP, launching his second home run of the season in the top of the seventh to score two more runs. In his past three games played, De Feo is batting .400 with two runs scored, five RBI, and two home runs.
Cal State LA continued to apply pressure later in the game, adding four more runs in the sixth to extend its lead. Defensively, the Broncos battled through a challenging game that included a pair of errors, while the Golden Eagles capitalized on their opportunities with 15 hits.
